Who needs caffeine?

By Jeanne

I got another jolt of energy from the universe today. I was driving into work, thinking hard about my next post. I was faced with a figurative blank page, intent on finding a topic that threaded together my other posts, looking to establish a sense of continuity and voice for my blog.

The cosmos chose that moment for me to notice Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield playing on the radio. I love that song. It’s so beautiful, so lyrical. And the timing of it coming on the radio was … perfect.

“I’m just beginning
The pen’s in my hand
Ending unplanned…”

A remarkable concurrence of events? Absolutely. But that first stanza was only the beginning of me being swept up and in. The rest of the lyrics spoke to me as well.

“Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins”

It hit like gentle lightning, that moment of connection. A buzz of energy. I could almost feel the synapses in my brain firing, creating new neural pathways to clarity. Who needs coffee with that kind of jump start?

My life, my thoughts, flowing out to the universe in a stream of words, filling this virtual page. Connections, that’s my theme. Caffeine not needed today.
